About
Katherine Jumbe - Author Portrait
My Story

I'm a first-time author who loves to read, travel, sing, hike, and play volleyball (when my knees allow). I'm a proud Malawian by birth and a bona fide Minnesotan by survival of many winters. Picture books were my first window into the world, the inspiration for countless adventures and imaginings, and a wellspring of beautiful memories with my mom.

I've spent most of my career working in and around education. While I currently work outside of that arena, literacy remains a passion and continued project. I'm so proud to contribute to the rich history of books meant to spark children's imagination, sense of adventure, and belonging in the world.

Night: A Children's Fable

Even long ago, there was day and night. The day was full of light and warmth, and the people rejoiced in the rays of the sun. But when evening arrived, their complaints drove the Dark to take back the night and all her shadows. It will take Alekachawo, a young girl, to travel the sky road and convince the Dark that her gifts are wanted and welcome on earth.
